If we don't learn to change the way we think, we won't be able to solve the problems we create because of the way we think

On Monday, April 1, 2024, as part of the charity actions, volunteers from the Dog Kennel of the Municipality of Heraklion visited our school. With the motto "Learn - Support - Respect" they informed the students of the 1st High School about the care of domesticated and stray animals, about adoption and volunteering with the ultimate goal of raising awareness and developing love of animals.

The students had the opportunity to raise their concerns, to report their experiences of coexistence with their pets, but also to play and take photos with Oscar, the dog-protagonist of this particularly moving action. At the end the volunteers, representatives of the Municipality distributed souvenir gifts to all the students.

We would like to thank Mrs. Elena Nikolakopoulou for editing, Mrs. Papadaki Chrysoula and Mr. Doulakis Iraklis for the presentation. The above accepted with great willingness the invitation of our animal welfare group and contributed substantially to the realization of the informative event. In addition, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, which was established as the Panhellenic School Day of Philanthropy, students of the 2nd and 3rd High School classes had the opportunity to participate in an open informative teleconference organized by the Panhellenic Philanthropic Environmental Federation. Its topic was the protection of animals and ensuring their well-being and rights, with the main speaker being Mr. Kalaitzidis Dimitrios, director of the Raleigh Experimental School for Girls. At the same time, on the same day, there was a video screening and posting of posters - comics, artistic creation of the students on the topic of their relationships with animals.
