History

ESTABLISHMENT – LOCATION

The 13th Gymnasium of Heraklion was founded in 1995 and is located at 36 Antoniou Voreadis street, in the district of Agios Ioannis, in Heraklion, Crete.

PRINICIPALS AND VICE PRINCIPALS

Mrs. Irini Kogialou was the first Principal of the school during the school years 1995-1996 to 2008-2009, with Deputy Principals Mr. Konstandakis Aikaterini PE04 in the 1995-96 school year Mr. Kostas Rousakis and Mr. Michelakis Olga (from school year 1996-97 to 1998-99), the pat. Georgios Siganaki and Mr. Demetzos Kostas (from the school year 1999-2000 to 2006-2007) and Mrs. Neonaki Dimitra and Mrs. Tziraki Maria (from the school year 2007-08 to 2008-09). From the school year 2009 - 2010 to the year 2010 - 2011, the school's Principal was Mrs. Proimaki Eleni, with Deputy Principals Mrs. Neonaki Dimitra and Mrs. Tziraki Maria. During the school year 2011-2012 until the year 2014-2015, Mr. Toutoudakis Nikolaos was the Principal of the school with Mrs. Neonaki Dimitra and Mrs. Tziraki Maria as Deputy Principals. In the school year 2015 – 2017, the director of the school was Mrs. Neonaki Dimitra, with the Vice-principals, Mrs. Smyrnakis Ioanna and Mr. Kastrinakis Manolis. In the school years 2017 – 2023, the principal of the school was Mrs. Kleinaki Anna with Deputy Principals Mrs. Smyrnakis Ioanna and Mrs. Kambitaki Argyro (2017-2019), Mr. Nikos Kyrezis (2019-2021), Mr. Stratakis Antonios (2021-2023) and Mrs. Prenza Katerina (2022-2023).

For the school years 2023-2028, Mrs. Sfakianaki Maria has been appointed as the Principal of the school.

STUDENTS

The school accepts students from the area of Agios Ioannis, as well as from the wider area. Each year approximately 450 students attend.

PREMISES

The school building consists of a total of 18 classrooms. The building complex has a fully equipped Natural Sciences Laboratory, an Informatics Laboratory and a Technology Laboratory, a specially designed Library area, a Multi-Purpose Hall with a specially designed theater stage, 18 classrooms, 3 integration department rooms, the Office of the Director, the Sub-Director and the Professors. In the inner courtyard of the school there are basketball and volleyball courts, while around the courtyard of the school there has been a special configuration of the surrounding area with a variety of trees, bushes, flowers and a school garden.
