On Friday, April 12, 2024, a training course was held at our school for the members of the club on the topic: "Creative writing and podcasts". The speaker was Mrs. Irini Kassotakis, professor of philology at the Standard Lyceum of Heraklion.
Initially, Mrs. Kassotaki presented creative writing exercises to us in a succinct and demonstrative way, through examples. These exercises are related to both poetry (rhymes, conversion of traditional poetry into free verse, illustration of a poem in calligraphy, limericks, mandinades and haiku) and prose (changes in style, characters, plot, narrative point of view, the vocabulary). Also discussed was the possibility of making a cover, lining a story with appropriate music, and writing a poem inspired by a painting.
Then, we familiarized ourselves with the student radio and the podcast. We had the opportunity to listen to the podcasts created by the students of the Model High School of Heraklion on the topics of peace and friendship. Important information and tips were given for a quality radio broadcast, for a good radio voice and also for the successful implementation of a radio interview. Finally, our school team presented their own podcast, giving us the opportunity to share ideas and best practices.
