Training for teachers has begun, led by scientists from the University of Crete and the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) on Saturday, November 22, at the Natural History Museum of Heraklion, for the Youth4Diagnostics Citizen Science Project, in which the school is participating. This action is one of the citizen science initiatives of the European research project DxHub implemented under the Horizon Europe program (HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-07) and is titled Youth4Diagnostics Citizen Science Project, with a duration of two years. By providing tools, protocols, and materials to school students and teachers, the initiative aims to connect science, technology, and creativity through the STEAM model, with the goal of helping students develop knowledge and skills in biodiversity and microbiological water analysis, connect their recorded data with environmental impact and relate it to public health issues, and use their creativity and the knowledge they acquire to develop innovative technologies in the field.
